My Passion for Writing

Donna Lynch

I began writing  when I was a young. As a very shy child, I found an alternative way to communicate. First it was letters and poetry. I also wrote daily in diaries (with locked keys) and eventually journals. After high school, I delved into banking, then real estate and lastly insurance before embarking on writing full-time, publishing my first novel, “No Regrets/The Forgiving Heart of Allyson Porteus” in 2003. Later publishing, “John’s Pond” in December 2015. Recently, I have written three Pop songs and currently collaborating on another. Writing gives me the freedom to express myself and my experiences more eloquently. A few of my pleasures, among traveling and reading, is walking in nature, weight training, Yoga and playing the piano. I also enjoy my daughter’s beautiful yellow lab named “Angel” who I care for while she works. I live on a beautiful peninsula called Cape Cod, where I have resided nearly all my life, with my husband, Bob. I have two grown children who have been the heart of my existence.

My Passion for Music

When I was a teenager, (many moons ago) I had written lyrics and sent them off to a company in Boston who added music and a vocalist. Sadly, the return was a great disappointment, and I never pursued it again -- until recently. I had been taking piano lessons for 6 years when one day, out of the blue, I said to my tutor, '"I'd like to write a song."' Several months later, "Baby, I Miss You So" was released!

Music has moved me since I was a little girl. Today when I hear an old song, I start reminiscing. I know exactly where I was and with who, even how I felt. I treasure a special fond memory with my grandmother when I was only 3. She lived with us then. She would play her 78 RPM for me and sing along with Patti Page, 'Tennessee Waltz'.

If I got any emotional connection with a song, I'd immediately buy it. By the time I was 10, I think I owned nearly every single and album out there. If you asked me who my favorite is/was , it would be hard for me to answer that; there is so much talent out there. I could name great artists from Elvis and the Beatles to Ed Sheeran. Doesn't matter to me, though, if one is more famous or popular than another, any artist that can touch my heart and soul with their gift--then I become their fan.

I'm open to various genres, but I'm partial to Pop/R&B/Country. Love ballads captivate me.
